Ringing in the 2019 Small Business Goals

It’s the first full work week of 2019. What are your business GOALS for the year?

Note: A resolution is a “firm decision to do or not do something.” A GOAL is the “result toward which effort is directed”. Merely resolving to do something without creating actionable, measurable steps generally means there will be no results. Business goals are often to be more profitable, to be more organized, to hire more employees, to increase sales, etc. These are fairly broad and not quantifiable.

How does a business owner or entrepreneur create goals that can be achieved?

A popular method is SMART goals. These goals are designed to provide structure and guidance throughout a project, and better identify what you want to accomplish. To make sure your goals are clear and reachable, each one should be:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Relevant

Time-bound
